Having a good gym workout isn’t as simple as walking in and making a beeline for the treadmill, or hopping from machine to machine to “pump” out a few reps. Having a good workout actually takes a little work.
Believe it or not, most women have no clue how to have an efficient workout, in fact, 90% of them aren’t working out properly. If you are in this group, it is ok. It is just important that you read this article so you can be in the small 10% of women fitness pros!
First, always have a plan of what you are going to do when you walk in the gym door. Keep your workout plans tracked and written in a fitness journal. Don’t have one? Pick up a spiral notebook at your drugstore. If you know what you have to do, then you don’t waste time standing around trying to figure out your exercises. Of course this means you will rest less and burn more body fat.
Next hold up, is social time at a lot of gyms. You can really hurt your results with too much chit chat during your workout. If you can, just tell people that you are in the middle of a workout and you will talk with them when you’re done. If not, then wear ear plugs to send the message… this is what I do.
Cardio isn’t first. That is the next gym workout tip. It is all too common to see people doing their cardio first and then trying to follow it up with a few weight exercises. We all know cardio is good at burning fat, but strength training is the super hero. It boosts overall metabolism so you burn more calories while doing nothing. But you have to have a good intense program to make that happen so you don’t want to be too tired from your cardio. Keep the cardio for the end.
And Finally, the gym machines that take up so much of the floor space or simply that… space fillers . You don’t workout to sit down, and all these machines do just that, have you sit. They are also targeted to small muscles which means little fat burning and little results. Free weights are by fat the best option to give results with your women’s workout plan.
To make sure you get the best out of your workouts, start planning your next gym workout so that when you walk in you have a goal, you can stay focused and hit your weight loss target.
